Supra Keeps The Big Six

We finally have a rough on-sale date for the 2019 Toyota Supra. Toyota revealed that the car is slated to hit dealers globally in the first half of 2019. But that isn’t the main reason we’re excited. The fact that Toyota chose to stick with a straight six is.

The automaker stated that it will pack a straight-six gas engine and rear-wheel drive, just like previous models. The I6 will probably come from development partner BMW, where the three-litre turbopetrol straight six borrowed from the M240i, should reportedly deliver around 285kW and 500Nm.

Toyota chief engineer Tetsuya Tada and master driver Herwig Daenens will race the reborn legendary coupe up Goodwood’s iconic hill climb course each day of the Festival that runs from 12-15 July.

We’re getting excited just thinking about the tuning potential, and not to mention the glorious sound!
